We design and create bat roost features in trees to support conservation, biodiversity, and ecological mitigation. Blending our ecological expertise and arboricultural skills, we create bespoke roosts that mimic as close as possible the natural features bats rely on — such as cavities, crevices, and loose bark.

Why Roost Creation?

Tree-dwelling bat species are losing habitat due to felling, development, and land use changes. Roost creation helps to:

• Compensate for the lost or removed roost features

• Enhance biodiversity as part of conservation and habitat creation 

• Deliver mitigation for licensed works involving bats

Our Approach

We offer a range of roost creation techniques, tailored to the bat species and habitat:

• Chainsaw-carved cavities  to replicate as close as possible natural roost features

• Crevice and loose bark features for our crevice tree dwelling species

• Tree-mounted bat boxes, where carving is not appropriate or suitable trees are unavailable

• Veteranisation advice to encourage natural roost development over time

All works are carried out with ecological sensitivity, we also support licensed mitigation where required.
