Bat Survey - Penllergare, Swansea
Building History
This summer, we had the honour of conducting bat surveys at Penllergare Observatory, a beautiful Grade II listed building, rich in history. Built in 1851 by John Dillwyn Llewellyn for his daughter Thereza, the father-daughter duo used this private observatory to take some of the first pictures of the moon.
Survey Results
We found no bats in this building throughout any of our surveys, which means that the renovation and protective works at Penllergare Valley Woods to maintain this fascinating snapshot of history can go ahead with no need for licences.
